So still trying to find the right way to get to posting regularly. I'm giving myself a little challenge. Yesterday I read this article on SparkPeople about 31 steps to setting goals. The title suggests it's a month long daily challenge while the article is set up more like a check list, I've decided the daily challenge. I have pinned the article and have left it in an open window on the browser (the next step is to put it in the bookmark bar, but alas that would require cleaning my bookmark bar). <insert 2 minute pause here> OK, so now I think I've set myself up for this challenge. So in hopes of inspiring myself to blog a little more often I'm giving this 31-day-goal-setting challenge a shot.
Day 1: Settle on top goals for the year, be as specific as you can.
The next days will also focus on this some, so I'm not going to go totally SMART, but I will focus I think on four main goals:
- Professional - I want to achieve my educational (values, etc) goals in addition to my teaching (grammar, etc) goals. To do this, I will pre-plan at least two lessons focusing on incorporating skills taught to express educational goals as they relate to the material for at least half of the tests a year. For the 2013-2014 school year, it means all the tests in the second semester.
- Exercise - I want to be consistent and to improve. To do this, I think I will set monthly distance goals reflecting the weather. In addition I think I'll come up with relevant rewards for 85% + consistency. For the 2015 running season I focus on speeding up my half marathon speeds.
- Social - I want to be in more regular, vocal contact with my siblings, parents, in-laws, and best friends. I think I will pre-schedule myself weekly-monthly calls with each person and initiate this contact. Perhaps I should also keep a running list of questions to ask and stories to tell these people as conversation starters. I also will arrange two nights out, every other month I think I should strive to do some sort of girls night or treat.
- Creative - I want to have manageable projects in addition to work and training that allow me to express and release myself. This year I think my projects should be organization of wedding memorabilia (scrapbook, photo album, and Daniel's scrap book) and this blog. I want to be able to turn out a page a day for Daniel's book over the summer and finish the wedding stuffs over Passover. I hope to get the blog up to two posts a week until the summer and hopefully set the habit of three a week after the summer.
See you tomorrow!
